An interior room with a textured acoustic surface panel

Intelligent acoustic environments

Acoustics that adapt to the moment.

Intelligent surfaces that tune a room to how it's being used.

Every space needs different acoustics at different times

Opposite acoustic needs, too often the same fixed room.

A meeting room, a music room, and a quiet focus space have opposite acoustic needs. Hilja's mission is to transform every space into an intelligent acoustic environment that adapts to how people use it, combining sound, light, and design into responsive architectural surfaces.

Variable acoustics, panel by panel

Not a preset schedule -- real-time classification.

A working prototype panel rotates from fully reflective to fully absorptive (0-90 degrees), driven by real-time classification of ambient sound and occupancy.

Panel Control Unit: a working prototype with an onboard microphone array and motor control on each panel, classifying sound type and driving rotation in real time.

The Panel Control Unit classifies the room in real time and drives the panel's rotation accordingly.
JobsiteControlEdge computing and connectivity built for the jobsite, wherever it is.

Interior spaces only: sound masking, acoustic comfort, meeting and workspace acoustics -- not construction-site monitoring, which is a separate venture (JobsiteControl).

Who Hilja is for

Commercial space owner or architect
A room that has to serve speech, music, and quiet focus at different times, without a renovation every time the use case changes.
Facility or workplace manager
An acoustic environment that adapts on its own to how the room is actually being used, not a fixed panel layout someone has to manually reconfigure.

On hold, patent-protected

Hilja is currently on hold, with active development resuming in Q4 2026. The panel mechanism is protected by US Patent 9,322,165 B2. If you're exploring adaptive acoustics for a commercial space and want to be first in line when development resumes, we'd like to hear from you.

Hilja is designed to transform static room acoustics into intelligent, adaptive environments -- rotating reflective panels over absorptive material, so the same room can serve speech, music, and quiet focus without a renovation.
